Great news! Sweet Lilly, our library reading dog, has decided she can squeeze us in for 2 visits a month, beginning in May!
Lilly sits by patiently listening while young readers practice their skills on her...this has proved to be of tremendous benefit in helping kids gain confidence to read aloud in class. Lilly has also been known to transform some dog-shy young patrons into dog lovers!
Calling all kids in grades 4-6...it's that time again! You've had a year to read books from the Great Stone Face list, and now it's time to make your choices known! You have until April 28th to do some last-minute reading and come to the library and cast your vote. Remember: You don't have to read them all...just pick your favorite from the ones you have read. The winner will be announced in May. The Great Stone Face Award is sponsored by the New Hampshire Center for the Book.
Everyone loves to wiggle and giggle! Come build a robot that can scribble, race, and dance! The BHS Robotics team will be here during April Vacation week to build WIGGLEBOTS with your kids!

Good news for dog lovers...We have a new dog for our kids' reading program! We all miss Maddy, but you're guaranteed to fall in love with Lilly, a yellow lab owned and trained by Sue Bradford of Bedford. Lilly was originally destined to be a guide dog for the blind, but it turned out that she loved people so, so much that she couldn't stay focused on one master. Lilly will be at the library on the (usually) third Thursday of every month, from 4:00 - 5:30pm.
Hang in there...Winter Break is on its way! We'll be breaking the ice in the Children's Library with some special vacation activities. For starters, members of the Bedford High Robotics Team have graciously offered to come over and present a couple of workshops, one for ages 5-7, and one for the older crowd, aged 8-12. Then, Subzero Ice Cream will be coming in with a scientific demo and frosty treats for all. In addition, for the little guys, we will be hosting a PJ storytime featuring a Stuffies Sleepover.
The next meeting will be held on Monday, Februrary 13...Athlete vs. Mathlete, by W.C. Mack will be up for discussion. How can two twins be wired so entriely differently? Will ever the twain meet? Come on by and pick up a copy of this very entertaining novel, if you'd like to read ahead and be able to add to the discussion. Otherwise, just come and enjoy chatting, snacking, and any related activities. The Terrible Two Get Worse...is it even possible?
They're back! MakerSpaces are all the rage, and the Bedford Library is on it! Due to popular demand, we are going to make our Magformers availble periodiacally for you to drop by and enjoy. Youngsters (and oldsters), you can try your hand at making something special with our magnetic construction set. Suggestions are available to get you started, or you can just dream something up on your own… see where your imagination takes you! The Magformers will be out next on Thursday, January 12 from 3:330-5:30pm.
