Using the link below you can view our curated list of 80 books for children covering the Civil Rights movement, Reconstruction, prominent figures in history, stories and picture books featuring Black characters, and biographies of contemporary sports stars and political figures.

Ladybug Award Voting is Open!

It's that time of year again! From now until December 21 readers up to third grade can vote for their favorite nominee for this year's Ladybug Award in the Children's Room!

The Ladybug Picture Book Award is designed to promote early literacy and honor the best in recent children's picture books. A committee of children's librarians from around the state selects 10 picture book titles each spring. Then, during December, New Hampshire children from preschool to 3rd grade choose the winner.

Audiobooks at the Bedford Public Library: More Ways to Listen

Audiobooks have been increasing in popularity over the last decade – and it’s easy to understand why.  In addition to being a great alternative for readers with low vision or reading difficulties, audiobooks are a fun way to make reading more portable and flexible.  Popping a CD into your car’s player or connecting an eAudiobook over Bluetooth makes your commute go faster.  Or you can plug your headphones into a Playaway on a lanyard while you clean house
