Leen Lecture with Author Ty Gagne

The Bedford Library Foundation will host its annual Leen Lecture with author and Certified Wilderness First Responder Ty Gagne.

Join Ty Gagne for this virtual event as he discusses his newest book, The Last Traverse: Tragedy and Resilience in the Winter Whites.  This is a true story of two friends on a winter hike that goes awry on New Hampshire’s Franconia Ridge and the search-and-rescue efforts that kept it from becoming a bigger tragedy.

Virtual Wicked Crafty Wednesdays: Mending Techniques

Join Caitlin and Emily W. as we use Creativebug and other resources to show our clothes some love. Last time we worked on our sweaters and knit items, so this time we’ll tackle patching, sewing on buttons, and other mending techniques for woven fabrics. Let’s make a dent in those mending piles and freshen up our wardrobes for spring! Before the class, we’ll watch some mending videos on Creativebug, and then we’ll get together virtually on Zoom to mend, share tips, and keep each other company as we extend the life of our clothing.

This program is suitable for ages 12 and up.

Virtual Wicked Crafty Wednesdays: Sweater Mending

Do you have some sweaters that need some repair work? Join Caitlin and Emily W. as we give a little love to our well-worn knits. Before the class, we’ll watch some mending videos on Creativebug, and then we’ll get together virtually on Zoom to mend, share tips, and keep each other company as we extend the life of our clothing. If you still want to join us and work on your mending skills but you don’t happen to have any sweaters to repair, you can often find some with holes at thrift shops.

This program is suitable for ages 12 and up.

Winter Backyard Birds with Steven Hale (Virtual Program)

Winter Backyard Birds was created in the same interactive, bird-quiz format as the very popular Backyard Birds presentation. These programs enable the audience to test their own knowledge. ID tips are offered for identifying  common and not-so-common Winter birds frequenting the backyards in your area. Advice on attracting and feeding birds will be provided. Introduction to the annual Audubon Christmas Bird Count and how to participate is included.

Bedford's Virtual Volunteer Fair

Bedford Virtual Volunteer Fair – You Are Needed!

Volunteering is one of the most meaningful expressions of giving and agencies serving Bedford residents need your help. Thanks to the support of AARP, Southern NH Planning Commission has partnered with the Caregivers Volunteer Driver Program, St. Joseph Community Services (SJCS) Meals on Wheels Program, and Bedford’s innovative Public Library to put on an informative and exciting Virtual Volunteer Fair.

Virtual Wicked Crafty Wednesdays: Handsewn Deer Ornament

This month we'll be making an adorable felt holiday ornament using basic sewing skills.  Pick up your supplies at the Library (inside or curbside), watch the how to video on Creativebug, then get together with your fellow crafters to work on the ornament.

Registration is required and limited to Bedford cardholders, as you must be able to access Creativebug. We’ll send you the Zoom link to join the Craft-along.

Registration closes on December 15th to ensure participants have time to watch the videos in advance and pick up materials.
