Sunday at the Library Concert Series: Jon McAuliffe - Blues/Folk & Roll/Boogie

The Friends of the Bedford Library wraps up the 2018-2019 Sunday concert series featuring Ashton, MA artist Jon McAuliffe on Sunday, May 5 from 2:30 – 4:00 p.m.

McAuliffe’s style of songwriting and sound blends gospel, folk/rock, R&B, and takes an occasional dip into pop. While his main influences are primarily basic Americana, McAuliffe’s appreciation for jazz from the early 1920s up to and including the bebop era, have had an effect in ways that aren't immediately noticed.

McAuliffe began performing semi-professionally in 1965 at various coffee houses in the Norfolk and Virginia Beach area while a teenaged member of the U.S. Navy. During his two years there, he performed with Doug MacLeod, Emmylou Harris, John Pilla, Bryan Bowers, Jim Dawson and many other performers who influenced his tastes and performing style.

McAuliffe released his first solo album, "In This Present Form," in late spring, 2011. Produced by multi-instrumentalist Seth Connelly, the album echoed most of his musical influences and personal beliefs and was greeted very positively, with wide support and encouragement from audiences in the Northeast. The event is free and open to the public. Seating is available on a first come, first serve basis. Seating is limited to 100 people. Tickets will be distributed at 1:45 and doors open at 2:15 p.m.
