All Aboard! Train Show at the Bedford Public Library
Join the Bedford Public Library and the Bedford Boomer Model Railroad Club to celebrate Model Railroad Month. The Bedford Boomers Model Railroad Club will present both a "G" scale and "O" Scale “Model Railroad” systems for your enjoyment. Also on display will be “scale construction equipment and fire engines.” The operating and static displays will be open to the public Saturday from 10:00 am to 3:00 PM and Sunday from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
In addition to the operating displays in the McAllaster Room, the Bedford Library’s Children’s Room will have books on trains available for the kid’s reading pleasure. Members of the Bedford Boomers will also have both prototype and model train publications in the McAllaster Room. The library’s HO & N model trains, next to the Children’s Room will be available for all to operate.
The Bedford Boomers will also hold two open house discussions on Model Railroading to answer questions regarding their hobby; modeling railroading. Time for the open house discussion is Saturday at 1:00 pm and again Sunday at 2:00 pm. in the Richmond Room. Both session are informal and are designed to answer YOUR questions regarding: How does one get started? What trains to purchase for various ages? And where you can obtain hobby items?
Do you know that trains operated between Manchester and Milford with a station stop in Bedford from 1900 until 1924? The Bedford station was located on Route 101 between the current Mobil Gas Station and Meetinghouse Road. A special map of Bedford in the 1920’s will be on display and available for discussion during the Saturday and Sunday discussions.
