Kids

We Love Graphic Novels!

If you have a child between the ages of 5-15, you probably know how popular graphic novels are right now. Middle schoolers are swimming in Dog Man, Raina Telgemeier, Big Nate, and more. Here in the library we are big fans of graphic novels as well. When your job is to foster a love of reading, it’s hard not to! Our first meeting of our new monthly Graphic Novel Club was last week and we had a full house of 8-12 year olds thrilled to talk about all kinds of graphic novels they love.

Kamishibai

Come join us for a special kind of Story Time - Kamishibai!! It is pronounced Ka-me-she-by and means “Paper Theater.”

Popular in Japan in the early 1900’s as a means of entertainment and commerce, Kamishibai employs  the use of a small theater, large illustrated cards, and theatrical voice.

End of Summer Reading Program 2019!

We did it! All of our young Bedford readers worked together for the past 7 weeks to read over 10,200 hours! Great job, summer readers! Our pizza party on Saturday, August 10th was a big hit with a fun performance from Mr. Aaron and his band and pizza for all who attended, generously donated by 1750 Taphouse, Pizza Bella and Pizza Mia!

If you missed out on our end party, don't worry! You can still come in and pick up your beads for your necklace and your FREE book here in the Children's Room for the next few weeks!
